Special properties
No. 900 is a balanced formula of rust inhibiting pigments and vehicle
designed to protect steel from rust and corrosion. Made with Zinc Chromate,
No. 900 does not contain lead pigments. No.900 is an excellent shop coat
for structural steel, permitting lengthy outdoor storage before top coating.
No. 900 meets the requirements of Federal Specification TT-P-636. It also
conforms to Federal Laws restricting the use of lead and the Ohio Air
pollution regulations for solvents.
Where to use
Use for priming steel or other metal surfaces. No. 900 may also be used
on wood when a red primer is desired. May be top coated with latex, alkyd
or oil-based paints.
Surface Preparation
Surface must be clean and free from grease, rust, and scaling paint. Remove
all loose rust, corrosion, and paint by scraping, wire brushing, and sanding
to bright metal. For new galvanized metal, allow to weather for six months
or remove oil coating with paint thinner and wash with vinegar. Rinse
well before applying No. 900.
Application
Apply only when the air temperature and that of the surface to be painted
are above 45 degrees F. Avoid painting late in the day when dew or condensation
are likely to form or when rain is threatening. Stir thoroughly before
